A True Bricoleur

Please let me remind you...

Bricoleur: (n) French brik-e-loo'-er
one who makes creative and resourceful use of whatever materials are at hand, regardless of their original purpose.

Very often we find items that just can't be used again for what the were created to be.

~The Cake Pans~
I love them like this, but it would take a very large space to display them this way.
This is a little better, a display stand.

Think of all the things that could be showcased on this stairstep display.

This is my favorite pic.  From large to small, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven!

Back to the original, I love all those circles.  Those must have been some pretty cakes that were turned out of these.

O.K., do you want to know what the customer that bought these was going to use the pans for?
Jewelry & Belt display.
"creative use, regardless of its original purpose"

I love my customers, you all are so creative!

So... If you have purchased anything from us, either in one of our stores or at an antique show, that has been used in a creative way, let me know!  I would love to hear from you.

Similar items to these pics will be available.

We always have an interesting assortment of fun items to complete little vignettes, plus dressers, cabinets and tables.  Every once in a while a chair or two is available.  It all depends on what we have come across in the week or two before the show.  This last month, we brought a truck and trailer home with us packed full of treasures from our month long trip to Texas & Colorado.  Since we have been home there has been no shortage of inventory.  From one place alone, we filled up 4, yes 4, truck and trailer loads.  We are busy trying to get it all ready for you, our customer.
Stop by to see what we found!

"Grab our Button".
Go ahead and help yourself.  Doesn't it look great?  I think so.

Colors and Shapes

Again nature has me awed.
Take a look at these wildflower color and shapes.
These were taken on our trip.
Most were in Colorado.

Look close.

A bumblebee stealing sweet nector.

My favorite.

No two are the same.

I couldn't help myself.  I had to share.
A bouquet of these in an old canning jar on my kitchen windowsill would be lovely.  Instead I will have to enjoy them this way.

What about you?  Do you have a favorite?  One of the things I like most about them is the pretty green in every pic.  It is one of my favorite colors.

Inspiring Landspaces

Our roadtrip to Texas, led us through many states.
It seemed to me that each state we drove through had a different type of landspape.  It was very inspiring seeing all of the beauty.
California

Nevada

Utah

Wyoming

Colorado

Kansas

Oklahoma

Texas

These are just a few of my favorites.  I couldn't resist sharing them with you.  Are you also inspired by the beauty?

We shopped Canton, Texas

While in Texas, there were many many places to find treasures.  I won't share all of my secrets, but I will share with you...
Canton.
  Wonderful hot/humid Canton.
We have been there before and enjoyed ourselves, but that was in October and the weather was a bit more enjoyable then.

This place has buildings and acres full of great things, old and new.  A perfect place to find just what you need for decorating your home or business.

Ready to go see what we can find.

I loved this piece.

Lots of old jars.  These came home with me.

Fun letters.

Cool sign.

Old cot, unique birdhouse and garden chairs.

This primitive box was a favorite of mine, but the price was a bit high.

Our oldest daughter was such a big help, inspite of the heat.  Did I mention how hot it was?

So many old wash tubs in one place!

Vintage ceiling tiles.
We found lots of great things that we will be sharing with you at some of our next shows and in our two store locations,The Antique Trove in Roseville and Scout Living in Downtown Sacramento.

Here is the truck and trailer loaded down after two weeks in Texas.

It all made it home safe and sound.
Stay tuned for a post with pics of some of our finds.
